We would like to express our deep thanks to Bromley Chain for making a donation on behalf of their dear friend, Kathleen Hankinson. Please read on to hear a bit more about this amazing woman:
REMEMBERING KATHLEEN HANKINSON
Kathleen, much loved and respected Patron of local charity Bromley Chain, died in February 2022 at the age of 93. Described as “a superb advocate for Deaf and DeafBlind people” it was heart-warmingly appropriate, and a joy to us, that one of the beneficiaries of donations in her memory should be BRIGHT.
As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) and Chair of Bromley Chain from 1997 she was a force to be reckoned with. Her unfailing enthusiasm and experience was greatly valued among the committee and she was loved and respected by her interpreter colleagues, clients and professional contacts. Her presence on Bromley Chain committee and her care and concern for the Deaf and DeafBlind communities would likely have lasted well into her nineties had Parkinsons not intervened. We were honoured to name her as our Patron in 2013. Whilst enjoying the BRIGHT DeafBlind BSL Garden Party I thought how proud and delighted Kathleen would have been of Zoe and Vicki, who not only do such sterling work in facilitating events but also in raising awareness (and funds!) among the other appreciative visitors!
